The Rundown: Frey has another tense encounter with her family as she and Owen search for answers.
Looking for answers from the family shaman, Frey and Owen must confront another of her brothers to find answers. Unfortunately, her brother has already alerted their father and proceeds to shoot her while they hunt for the man she loves. An act that will lead to a violent encounter between Frey and her brother.
In the aftermath, the pair go on the run again with Frey having doubts about her motivations and with possibly dark information from her father about Owen. As they make their way to a family stronghold, Owen discovers the mystery at the heart of the family’s immortality.
The Story: Kaplan continues to create a beautifully violent and sophisticated thriller in this series. I love the action and intrigue throughout the story as well as the evolution of the chase itself and what Freya is after. I continue to love these characters and their interactions. I love seeing the action and how massive and compelling the world of this story is. What really captured my imagination in this issue is the reveal at the end of the issue and what it means for the characters going forward.
The Art: Ossio delivers powerfully beautiful and brilliantly detailed art throughout the issue. I love the visual style and how the art balances the beauty of the characters and the violence of the world they live in.
