Kevin Bacon is a huge star and continues to work steadily in film and television, but there is one role that he has thought about revisiting for the last 25 years.
In 1990, Bacon starred as Valentine McKee in a small indie horror film called Tremors. 25 years and many sequels later, Tremors has become a cult classic in the world of sci-fi. The actor has lamented about how much he enjoyed the experience and the role and it looks like he will have the opportunity to step back into those cowboy boots again for SyFy.
It’s been announced that SyFy will produce a new series based on the film along with Bacon, who will reprise his role. “This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting. I just got to thinking, where would this guy end up after 25 years?” Bacon states in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The article also goes on to give a short synopsis of the new series:
The revival will take place 25 years after the monsters – dubbed “graboids” – first invaded the town of Perfection, Nevada, with McKee once again forced to defeat the creatures despite “battling age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex,”
No word on whether Fred Ward or any of the original cast would return, but Michael Gross’ Burt Gummer character is currently filming the sixth direct-to-video Tremors film, so hopefully he’ll get called back to Perfection, Nevada as well.
