Confirming something many were speculating, Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy had some news about the Boba Fett movie.
Kennedy, who was also in attendance at the Oscar screening of Black Panther, officially confirmed that the rumored Boba Fett film was dead. Logan scribe James Mangold was tapped to write and direct a script for a solo film about the famous bounty hunter with Simon Kinberg producing, but it looks like that won’t be happening anytime soon.
According to reports, Lucasfilm and Disney are instead putting their resources and time into Jon Favreau’s Star Wars series The Mandalorian for the upcoming Disney Play streaming service. The announcement sounds like more fallout from the Solo box office and more evidence that Star Wars might be looking to move forward rather than return to the past.
