The Rundown: Darkseid is poised to succeed. Truths are revealed and the Odyssey team has one last chance to save the universe.
Darkseid has infiltrated Epoch’s device with the help of his inside woman and he decides to give both Dex-Starr and Gamma Knife a choice about how they will proceed. A choice where the only alternative is death. With victory in his grasp, the lord of Apokalips begins preparations to change the course of the history of the universe with himself and his home planet dominating all of creation.
At the same time, Cyborg rejoins the remains of the Odyssey team and he and Jessica convince Orion and Blackfire to help them enact a daring plan to bring back the entire team to stand with them in one last attempt to stop Darkseid once and for all.
The Story: Dan Abnett brings the plot to a head as he moves all the players into position for a final showdown against Darkseid. The story is really good. The characters are fleshed out well and given agency. The plan the heroes comes up with is an interesting one and there is enough mystery left in both the plot and the resolution to keep it interesting to the reader. It will also be interesting to see how Dex-Starr and Gamma Knife will factor into the finale given what Darkseid reveals about how she came to work for Epoch.
The Art: Cliff Richards does some great work with the art in this issue. The plot is not particularly action focused so Richards has time to showcase the characters, especially Darkseid. A good looking issue.
