Cyborg, Starfire, Azrael and Jessica Cruz don’t seem to take being lured to the Ghost Sector by a resurrected Darkseid as a good thing and they proceed to attack him. When he defends himself, the villain attempts to explain to the team that he brought them to the Ghost Sector to fulfill their destinies as gods to the people of the various planets in the system. Their violent confrontation ends with Darkseid fleeing and leaving them to deal with a group of aliens who worship Starfire.

The last surviving alien recounts to the team the history of their planet and his story culminates in him taking Kory and the rest of the team into a hidden chamber to give her the object that he has been hiding there. When she takes the item, she unleashes a power that she might not be strong enough to control.

I continue to be interested in where this story is going. I like that Darkseid is not trying to be friends with the team and that the team has its own issues and problems. Having all of these different characters just get along from the beginning would be disingenuous. Williamson does a great job of introducing the interpersonal conflicts between them and allowing those conflicts to drive the story along. The fact that none of these heroes really knows or trusts the others helps to build on the drama of the story as well.

Sejic’s art is truly a highlight of this issue. There are some beautiful panels in this issue and the feel of the art matches the tone and emotion of the story so well that both the dialogue and the visuals engage the reader. Definitely want to see where this story is going.
