The Rundown: Tensions continue to bubble under the surface as the Justice League looks for a place to hide Lobo.
With Lobo in custody, the League has to find somewhere to hide him. Using a black hole to hide their movements, Batman and Flash pilot the Javelin towards their destination, but the location itself is starting to bring up bad memories. Memories that recall a Darkseid led invasion of the galaxy that killed scores of people across multiple worlds. An invasion that led directly to the death of a member of the League.
With the tension still bubbling under the surface between Batman and Superman, Lobo sees his chance to sew more chaos among the group by needling both Flash and Wonder Woman. An outer space emergency causes the team to veer off course and the memories of what happened continue to seep in as their approach the one place where everything for the Justice League changed.
The Story: Zdarsky does a great job of making this issue and storyline feel personal. The drama between the characters is what fuels the story and keeps the reader engaged. The back story elements are compelling, filled with action and great dialogue. The present day storytelling gets a huge boost from having Lobo as the antagonist. I cannot wait to see where this story goes next.
The Art: Mendonca delivers some stunning visuals throughout the issue especially the battle scenes in the flashbacks. There is great composition to these scenes and they are all visually exciting.
