The Rundown: Detective Chimp gathers the rest of the team for a final confrontation with The Upside Down Man.
In order to save Zatanna and the others, Detective Chimp is going to need John Constantine. Unfortunately, that means going through Madame Xanadu who has her own plans for the magician. After talking to Xanadu and learning an important lesson they need for the upcoming fight, the pair leaves to regroup with Man-Bat and recruit Doctor Fate.
The Upside Down Man manages to escape from the trap Swamp Thing has created, but its show of power is interrupted by the return of the entire team. Armed and ready to fight, John gives the creature a lesson in what it really is, what its true purpose is and what they will need in order to stop it. Something the creature has no concept of. As the magical battle prepares to continue, the Upside Down Man lashes out at the heroes and exacts a terrible cost from them.
The Story: Ram V does an amazing job of starting the story effectively and then building to an unexpected and shocking cliffhanger. The concept and theme of the story work beautifully for both these characters and their circumstances. The dialogue is great and I was surprised and pleased with how the story unfolded and where it ultimately ended. I can’t wait to see how this arc is ultimately resolved.
The Art: Amancay Nahuelpan delivers some beautifully detailed art throughout this issue. The characters pop on the page and the action is intense.
