The Rundown: Zatanna and Diana confront the Upside Down Man and Swamp Thing has a plan to end the threat once and for all.
Zatanna thinks back to one of her early memories of her father and how he tried to teach her about the cost of magic. It’s a lesson she keeps in mind when she finally finds her father in the Other Place being held by the Upside Down Man. Zatanna will discover that her style of magic gets stronger in that realm as she and Wonder Woman fight back against the creature who rules that realm.
At the same time, Swamp Thing needs to know if Kurt is finished with his experiment because it is time for the next part of their plan. Alec is going to enter thr Green and find another way into the Other Place. When he does, he will need Detective Chimp to be ready to help them all. Unfortunately, Bobo has problems of his own as he finds Constantine in trouble.
The Story: Ram V fills this issue with a lot of exciting and entertaining moments as the team finally takes the fight to the Upside Down Man. The story continues to make his menace and threat interesting and mysterious to the reader and that is one of the things that makes the character and the heroes’ struggle so compelling. Both Zatanna and Swamp Thing are given some great character building and emotional moments throughout this issue and the cliffhanger ending with Detective Chimp and Constantine makes me want to know where this story is going next.
The Art: Amancay Nahuelpan does some amazing work with the art. Not only do the characters look great, but there are some great style choices in how panels are composed and change. I loved the shattering effect in the panels and the section showcasing Swamp Thing’s trip through the Green.
