The Rundown: Zatanna is determined to find her father in The Other Place and Bobo speaks to Diana about the state of her team.
Diana is alone and contemplating the future of the Justice League Dark. Detective Chimp uses his skills to find her and proceeds to tell her not only about how the team is continuing to fracture, but also about Zatanna’s procurement of a dangerous magical artifact and the fight it put up before she was able to master it.
After learning about her team and how Kent Nelson is leaving, Bobo convinces Diana that she is the leader that they need and they need her right now, especially Zatanna. Diana decides to help Zatanna travel to the Other Place and Detective Chimp decides that they fight they are about to get into will require him to break some rules and bring in help.
The Story: Ram V does an excellent job with the pacing of this issue. The story is entertaining and engaging and taking the time to showcase how the team is fracturing is a great plot point to develop. Telling the story from Detective Chimp’s perspective was a great choice as well. The story moves forward like a classic film noir mystery and that is what makes it work as it continues to unfold and introduce more mystery to come.
The Art: Amancay Nahuelpan does some great work with the art. There are some beautiful panels throughout and each character is given the same level of detail and care in their individual moments.
