The Rundown: To track down Perpetua’s throne, the Justice League will have to turn into one of their greatest enemies.
Still feeling the effects of being in the Valley of Starros, Nightwing and Lex Luthor find themselves fighting against their allies. In order to stop them without hurting them, Lex will have to hack Cyborg when he realizes how Starro is controlling the team. After freeing the others, the true scope of the valley is revealed and they must find a way to escape, but it won’t be without consequences.
As they make their way through dangerous waters, the new Justice League must sneak their way to Perpetua’s throne. Unfortunately, Martian Manhunter’s peril will force Kendra to act and potentially expose them before they reach their destination.
The Story: Joshua Williamson crafts a decent continuation of the story. There’s nothing necessarily new beyond the Detective Chimp moments and that doesn’t get explored enough. Manhunter’s fight with Mindhunter is shaping up to be something compelling, but it doesn’t get explored enough either so the story boils down to a chase with a decent cliffhanger.
The Art: Robson Rocha delivers some great art. I love the retro looks during the characters delusions and there are a couple of decent thrills. The Valley of Starros reveal was definitely a highlight.
