According to Variety and The JV Club, actor Jude Law has been cast as the male lead opposite Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers. What is significant about Law’s character is who he will be playing.
Jude Law has been cast in the role of Dr. Walter Lawson in the film from directing duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Lawson, in the comics, is the human name of the alien hero Mar-Vell the original Captain Marvel. In the film, Larson’s Carol Danvers will reportedly have a mentor relationship with Lawson and an accident will fuse his DNA with hers granting her superpowers. Law’s character will train Danvers on how to use her powers.
Jude Law is going to be busy with both this role and his previously announced role as young Albus Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
Captain Marvel is expected to be released March 8, 2019.
