The Rundown: Jonny and his family deal with being stuck in the present as an old enemy makes his next move.
Jonny, Hadji, Race, Benton and Bandit find themselves in 2024 after confronting a now 70 plus year old Jonny who has been living beneath their old home. After following him down to his base, Jonny and his father get to work finding a way to repair the device responsible for bringing them into the future.
After discovering that they need parts in another country, they fire up the jet and take off, but older Jonny has a stop he needs them to make which will bring them to a tense standoff with an old friend. At the same time, Zin continues to monitor their activities and make his next move.
The Story: Casey offers some great thrills and actions throughout the issue. I really love the darker tone to this story and how matter of fact things are between the present Jonny and his past self. These are characters who routinely deal with the strange and unknown so their reactions are pretty spot on. Casey is crafting an interesting mystery for the characters in this arc and it’s going to be interesting to see how events continue to unfold for them.
The Art: Piriz does a wonderful job of capturing the darker, more serious tone of the story with the art. There are wonderful visual details throughout that I loved.
