A movie version of UbiSoft’s successful video game The Division is the works with the director of the upcoming Deadpool 2 at the helm.
According to an exclusive story in Deadline, director David Leitch is on board to direct the big screen version of the video game and he already has two powerhouse actors on board to star.
Actors Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal have been on board the project for years trying to get it made and have been consistent in making sure that any movie project stays true to the game. They will both not only star in the film, but their productions companies will help bring the game to life on the big screen.
The Division is set in a near future where a pandemic virus is spread via paper money on Black Friday, decimating New York City and killing millions. By Christmas, what’s left of society has descended into chaos. A group of civilians, trained to operate in catastrophic times, is activated in an attempt to save who and what remains.
The game was huge with over 20 million players and a sequel is currently in development with details to be unveiled at this years E3.
