Jane Foster Valkyrie #4
Marvel Comics
Written by Jason Aaron and Al Ewing
Art by Cafu
Colors by Jesus Aburtov
Letters by Joe Sabino
The Rundown: Jane decides to visit someone who was once in her position. Unfortunately, her visit will coincide with another hero’s business and the plans of the former ruler of Hell.
Jane Foster wants answers about her new role as Valkyrie and those answers could come from Dr. Riggs, who once shared a body with Brunnhilde. Unfortunately, she’s late to the Doctor’s lecture and to make matters worse, the object she is showcasing has caught the attention of Doctor Strange. The Doctor arrives because a confluence of events releases three of his enemies through a portal including Kaeciluis.
While Strange and Valkyrie take on the three escaped magical villains, another event connected to Jane is happening in Vegas. Mephisto has been going through his old contracts and discovers something that can benefit him, but things get complicated when he discovers there is a Valkyrie left alive. He decides to send the Grim Reaper after she and Strange in a bid to stop her.
The Story: Ewing and Aaron continue to build an engaging and entertaining world for Jane Foster in this series and I enjoy how Jane’s story continues to touch on other events in the Marvel universe beyond War of the Realms. The story is both fun and interesting because of the characters and the writers have crafted an interesting plot for Jane.
The Art: Cafu’s art is fantastic. I love the style and how the characters are brought to life on the page.
