Writer James Tynion IV and artist Martin Simmonds tackle a world where collective belief and conspiracy theories battle the truth in the Image Comics series The Department of Truth and it looks like the world they created will be coming to the screen.
According to an exclusive in The Hollywood Reporter, the Sister production banner from Elisabeth Murdoch, Stacy Snider and Jane Featherstone have picked up the television and film rights to the series. Sister has an impressive track record with series like HBO’s Chernobyl and AMC’s Gangs of London.
James Tynion IV also writes for DC Comics and recently wrapped the epic Joker War storyline and writes Something is Killing the Children for Boom! Studios. The Department of Truth follows former FBI agent Cole Turner who finds himself recruited by a mysterious agency known as the Department of Truth who investigate real life phenomenon manifested by people’s collective belief in everything from the Earth being flat to the faking of the moon landing.
