For everyone who was hoping that actor Jake Gyllenhaal would be taking over the role of Batman from Ben Affleck, there appears to be news that the actor is looking at a superhero role, but not the one that they think.
According to Deadline, Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to take the role of the villain Mysterio in the anticipated sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming. The writer confirms that the talks are taking place and that Gyllenhaal is interested in the role. Mysterio is the code name of Quentin Beck, former special effects artist and master illusionist. Mysterio uses advanced technology to create elaborate illusions to commit crime.
Gyllenhaal has a series of movies in development currently and his next film is The American directed by True Detective creator Cary Fukunaga about the life of composer Leonard Bernstein, which Gyllenhaal is producing.
