The huge success of the big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s IT and the anticipation of the next chapter still in production have caused Warner Brothers to look to the film’s director to take on a new project.
In a Variety exclusive, director Andy Muschietti has been tapped by Warner Brothers to direct a big screen adaptation of the popular manga and anime Attack on Titan. The studio finalized the production deal with Attack on Titans publisher Kodansha yesterday.
Attack On Titan has sold over 76 million copies since its debut in 2009 and Shinji Higuchi (Godzilla Resurgence) directed a two-part Japanese film version in 2015. Attack on Titan deals with a human society that lives behind massive walls in order to hide from giant humanoid creatures called Titans that devour human beings on sight.
David Hayman (Fantastic Beasts), Masi Oka (Heroes) and Barbara Muschietti (IT, Mama) will produce the film. No release date has been given.
