IT Chapter 2 is gearing up to begin production soon and the last piece of casting for the upcoming sequel has been announced.
According to multiple reports in Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, actor Isaiah Mustafa has been cast in the role of the adult Mike Hanlon. Chosen Jacobs played the young version of Mike in the 2017 film based on the novel by Stephen King. Mustafa will join Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy and Bill Hader for the sequel.
In the novel, Mike Hanlon is the only member of the Loser’s Club to stay in Derry after the events that brought them together to face Pennywise. Because he never left, he remembers more of the events from that summer and his investigation into the history of the town of Derry helps him later when he needs to bring them all back to end Pennywise once and for all.
Mustafa is known for his roles in films like Madea’s Big Happy Family, Horrible Bosses and the television series Shadowhunters. He is even more well-known for his stint as the spokesperson for Old Spice in their popular commercials.
IT: Chapter 2 is scheduled to begin production in July with a release date of September 6, 2019.
