Ant-Man and The Wasp is the first Marvel Cinematic Universe feature since this summer’s Avengers Infinity War and like any MCU film, there are two post credit scenes that put both a button on the film we just saw, but also opens the door for the next film to come.
Major Spoilers Ahead if you haven’t seen the film!!!
The first post-credit scene from the film connects immediately to the events of Infinity War and the upcoming Avengers 4 and while the presence of Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel is expected to turn the tide of the battle against Thanos, it might be Scott Lang’s Ant-Man who might hold the key to bringing back everyone that was lost when Thanos went snap.
The scene finds the Ant-Man team of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) on a rooftop getting ready to perform n experiment. Hank has created a smaller version of the Quantum Tunnel that he used to retrieve Janet from the Quantum Realm. During the events of the film, Janet is able to find a way to prevent Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) from dying and it looks like they need to retrieve particles from the Quantum Realm in order to keep her alive.
When Scott enters the realm, he is in radio contact with the team. After getting what they need, Scott contacts them to come back and we see why no one is answering. The Thanos snap has taken Hank, Hope and Janet, leaving Scott trapped in the Quantum Realm. So what happens now?
Janet’s time in the realm gave her an evolutionary boost that helped her adapt and survive her time there. She also discovered time vortexes in the realm itself and this is where we get our first indications of Lang’s role in Avengers 4.
Set photos from the upcoming Avengers 4 have leaked online during the course of the production and some of them seem to show Scott Lang alongside Iron Man and Captain America during the battle of New York. This could indicate that Scott uses the time vortexes to travel to events that might help him and this could be how he finds a way to save the world from Thanos. How he does it is anyone’s guess, but I know I will definitely be there on opening day to find out.
Let me know your theories of how Scott escapes the Quantum Realm and what that means for his role in Avengers 4 in the comments below.
