The Rundown: Tony Stark enlists a friend to help him recover a dangerous weapon from his past.
Iron Man and War Machine investigate the crime scene where their former friend and colleague was killed. After gathering information that the police missed, they head to Tony’s place to begin the next part of their plan to take down Source Control. After filling in another member of the team about his role, sensors alert them to an incoming attack from an old foe.
After taking on Titanium Man on the streets of the city, Tony is injured and taken to the hospital. With the plan still in effect, Rhodey races to Macau to continue the mission with a stealth hero in tow and the Mandarin’s missing rings as their target.
The Story: Cantwell is delivering an entertaining mystery with some great, thrilling moments in this issue. I like bringing back the Mandarin in this way without actually using the character. It creates some interesting tension and the story does a great job of showcasing how Tony’s clandestine missions continue to ensnare the people around him who care about him while he holds them at arms length. I look forward to seeing where the story goes next.
The Art: Unzueta delivers some great visuals that do a wonderful job of showcasing the thrilling elements of the story as well as the characters.
