The Rundown: Tony Stark confronts Korvac with no armor and no backup.
Korvac has escaped and confronts Tony Stark who has no armor and is dealing with morphine withdrawal. After beating up Tony with his cosmic powers, Tony takes a different approach to fighting back by challenging Korvac on the one thing that he hasn’t asked himself. The one thing he hasn’t thought about in years.
After having a deep and revealing conversation between two broken men, Korvac makes an unexpected decision. One that will send Tony Stark on a familiar, yet difficult personal journey with the one person who is still standing by his side.
The Story: Cantwell does something interesting with the tone and narrative approach to this issue. There’s no knock down, drag out fight to be found. It’s a dark, cathartic conversation between two broken men who believed that power was all they needed to fix everything except themselves. There are some profound moments to be found in the story and it comes to an interesting and engaging conclusion.
The Art: Cafu delivers some impressive art in the issue. With the story so focused on these two characters, Cafu manages to give the art a sense of realism that complements the story and the characters.
