The Rundown: Tony Stark has a gift for the world, but his cosmic powers might put an end to it.
Tony’s handpicked team of heroes have returned from deep space and are enjoying an evening out on the town when the topic of Tony Stark’s new cosmic powers comes up. As they discuss what happened to the rest of the team and who they need to alert in case Tony Stark becomes the threat they fear he could be, Stark appears over the city. A sight that prompts intervention from both the Avengers and the Fantastic Four.
As the heroes gather around Tony, they are suspicious about what he plans on doing with the power coursing inside him. Skeptical of his plan, Tony decides that the best way to help humanity is to give his friends and everyone in the city some of the power inside him, specifically his intellect. Unfortunately, Tony’s experiment is going to have some unforeseen outcomes. Ones that will potentially put people in harm’s way by giving them some dark ideas.
The Story: Cantwell crafts an interesting story that really dives into the personality of Tony Stark in a way that is compelling and also a little scary. The story has a great sense of suspense and I really enjoyed how the characters interacted with Tony throughout. I liked the direction the plot took and was pleased with the surprise at the end.
The Art: Ohta delivered some great art throughout the issue. The imagery was fun, beautifully detailed and inviting.
