The Rundown: A lone survivor chronicles the end of his world and an epic battle between two powerful cosmic gods.
A lone alien makes his way to a small table on another world and prepares to chronicle what happened to his world at the hands of Korvac and Iron Man. He chronicles his peaceful world and how its sun was violently destroyed when Korvac and Tony brought their fight to his galaxy. As the lone alien escapes from the ruin of his planet, Tony and Korvac continue to battle in the stars.
Tony decides the best way to prevent Korvac from remaking the universe is to send him to a dead one with the power cosmic. A dead one with a connection to someone Tony knows. As the power continues to overtake Stark, he sees how fragile his world is and wants to improve it. As Korvac continues to attack and the lone witness watches, the fight is interrupted by cosmic beings of immense and dreadful power. Beings who will give Tony Stark a choice of what to do with the power he now holds.
The Story: Cantwell delivers a thoughtful, interesting and tragic story in this issue. Telling this story from the perspective of an unknown character makes it more engaging and intriguing. The story is interesting in many ways, especially the way Tony’s darker proclivities take over when he’s given ultimate power. Cantwell makes me both excited and intrigued by where this story goes next.
The Art: Roberson delivers some exceptional art in this issue. The story is broad and big and the art perfectly brings those moments to life visually.
