The Rundown: Tony will tap into a new and powerful force, but will he be able to handle it.
Tony Stark is taking the unique opportunity to chronicle his transformation within the power cosmic. A transformation that will take him to some familiar places including his childhood home. As he navigates his personal trauma and realizes that he wanted something more, he finds himself in the presence of Korvac who reveals something interesting about Stark and how he views the world and his place within it. As the two battle, Tony realizes that there has to be more to his life than what he’s doing, and he’s determined to prove that there is.
At the same time Korvac has emerged and is preparing to recreate the universe according to his own vision. As he embraces the power cosmic and rebuilds his body, he finds that his plan is about to be interrupted by the emergence of a new and powerful Tony Stark.
The Story: Cantwell delivers an interesting philosophical story for Stark in this issue. There are some deep moments to be found for the character and the inner conflict he faces with the power he hopes to control is really intriguing. There isn’t a lot of action to be found in the pages of this issue, but the point of the story is Tony’s access to unlimited power and what he could potentially do with it and on that note, it works really well. An impressive issue with a great cliffhanger.
The Art: Cafu and Unzueta deliver some beautiful art throughout the issue. From the characters to the environments, everything on the page is filled with gorgeous details.
