The Rundown: Tony settles into his new life and community, but the threat of Korvac continues to loom.
After burying the dead from the last Ultimo attack, including the community’s former leader, Tony and Stilt Man discuss their next move. While Tony wants to find out where the Ultimos are coming from, Stilt Man wants him to aid in creating a means of calling for help. At the same time, Patsy arrives to mentally remind Tony that Korvac is still out there and his friends could be facing him alone.
When Patsy leaves to tell the rest of the team that they are on their own, Tony is left to ponder what could happen to them and if there is any way he can get himself together enough to be of help. Determined to get answers, Tony investigates one of the downed Ultimo machines and discovers the conspiracy at the heart of paradise.
The Story: Cantwell does a great job of bringing this part of the story to a satisfying end. I wasn’t a huge fan of this side story, but it definitely came together in a way that helped evolve and develop Tony Stark as a character. The writing is really well done and I was impressed with the pace and tone of the story itself. I like the stakes that are being raised in the plot and the conclusion was brilliantly done on many levels. I am excited about what happens next.
The Art: Unzueta delivers some beautiful art throughout this issue. There are so many great visual moments to be had, but the character is the focus and those moments drew me in.
