The Rundown: A reporter investigates a gifted child with an incredible secret.

A strange event occurs outside the great Sphinx in Egypt. Years earlier, a young boy named Alexei is preparing to get on a plane to return home with his mother when tragedy strikes. Donovan Price discovers that Alexei was the subject of fierce debate when he finds a video tape of the boy saying some strange things about Mars and past lives.

After running into a dead end with one of his sources, Donovan travels to Russia and discovers that there is a town the might hold answers for his story. His search for the truth alerts some dangerous people and his trip to the town will put him face to face with someone he didn’t expect.

The Story: Pires and White craft an engaging mystery in this first issue. I love the narrative framework of the story as well as the danger within it. There are a lot of things left vague including motivations and that made me curious to know more about the characters and their circumstances. The reveals are compelling and based on the cliffhanger at the end of the issue, I will definitely check out the next issue to see what happens.

The Art: Diotto delivers some great art throughout the issue. The characters look great and the visual atmosphere of the issue is fantastic.
