Deron GenerallyThe live action Swamp Thing series is going to be adding another DC Comics hero to its roster.
According to a report in Deadline, actor Ian Ziering has joined the cast as former Hollywood star Daniel Cassidy aka The Blue Devil. According to the official character description;
“Stuntman turned movie star, Daniel Cassidy became semi-famous after playing the demonic Blue Devil. But now, eight years later, Cassidy finds himself living out his days in frustration, pining for his former fame while on a collision course with destiny.”
Blue Devil was introduced in 1984 in DC Comics and he received his own title that same year. The Blue Devil was a character Cassidy played in a special effects film. When a real demon mistakes the costumed Cassidy for a peer to attack, the resulting fight melds the costume magically to Cassidy, giving him superpowers. The Blue Devil’s abilities include superhuman strength, speed and durability, an enhanced healing factor, as well as the ability to locate demons on Earth and banish them back to hell.
Ian Ziering is known for his breakout role in the hit television series Beverly Hills 90210 and most recently in the cult comedy movie franchise Sharknado.
Swamp Thing is currently in production for DC Universe.
