The Rundown: Trudy and Gabby get some unexpected visitors right before the sun goes down at the farm.
Trudy’s father Joseph and his henchmen are getting closer to his wayward daughter and leaving a path of death in their wake. At the same time, Trudy and Gabby find themselves fighting off another horde of monsters on their farm in order to save the only two men who will stay and help.
As it starts to get dark at the farm, Gabby makes the mistake of answering the door and an unconscious Trudy relives the horrors in her past that forced her leave before waking up to that horror in her new home. A human horror that has no idea of the supernatural emerging from the nearby woods.
The Story: Starks crafts a dark, tension filled tale in this issue. The amount of rising tension on each page is fantastic and I love the stark twist in the story where it turns from the present to the recent past. The backstory is great and gives the reader a sense of who Trudy’s father really is and the darkness within him. How that darkness will fare against the darkness surrounding the house is exciting to speculate about. I cannot wait to see the next issue.
The Art: Topilin delivers fantastic art that brilliantly matches the tension and terror of the story. There are some emotion inducing visuals throughout that I really enjoyed.
