When Wolverine’s body went missing from his unmarked grave, Kitty Pryde decided to bring in some outside help to track down the missing mutant. Much to Tony Stark’s chagrin, she went to Daredevil for help first and he agreed to take on the case.
Knowing the relative scope of what he is about to get into, Matt decides that he needs to bring together a team of investigators that can help him broaden his search. His first recruit is Inhuman Security Chief Frank McGee. There’s a natural unease from McGee about helping Daredevil track down a mutant considering they were recently at war with each other. He agrees and their next stop is finding another veteran detective, Misty Knight.
Misty’s arc is more interesting in this issue. Her reluctance to join in and help is a story that we don’t hear in this issue, but seems interesting enough to hope it’s explored in the future. Her back and forth with McGee is what the scene needed as well. Two ex-cops thrust into a new world is a bonding experience that is portrayed in a way that makes both characters more intriguing. As the team makes their way to the home of another recruit, they find a potential ally that is a danger to himself and with information that takes some weird turns.
I really enjoyed the pacing of this issue. It slows down enough to take its time with character development because it isn’t dependant on huge fight scenes. This is definitely the investigation part of the Hunt for Wolverine story and I hope it stays along those pacing and narrative lines in order to flesh out the overall story more.
