Cyclops has gathered the X-Men he needs to infiltrate and destroy the Mother Mold orbiting the sun. Knowing the risks, the mutants board their ship and head into space. At the same time, Sabretooth is being tried for the crimes he committed and an unexpected intervention from Emma Frost not only frees the mutant, but also signals the change in paradigm between mutants and humans.

At the Mother Mold facility, the intervention and attack from the X-Men is completely unexpected and those in charge are surprised that the mutants have the information they do. Unable to stop or prepare for the assault, the humans on board will go to desperate lengths to stop the X-Men from ending their work.

The Story: Jonathan Hickman has crafted a brilliant multi-layered story with both this series and Powers of X. This issue tackles both the mutant fight for their lives as well as the assertion of their growing power. The dialogue is fantastic and I love the moments between Scott and Jean before the mission. Even Logan’s contributions are welcome as they grapple with the morality of what they are about to do. The courtroom scene with Sabretooth and Emma Frost is fantastic and I loved the pace of it and the rest of the issue.

The Art: Pepe Larraz offers some brilliant, beautiful and detailed art in this issue. Everything was visually stunning.
