Aaron and the other architects have been playing with fire and they are getting burned by it in this issue.
In a final act of revenge and revelation, the older witch being used to control the coven sacrifices herself for the good of her daughters.
Free of their control, the wives decide to confront their “husbands” with Isadora following Aaron upstairs to have a heart to heart. Seething with anger and prepared to kill, Isadora confronts her husband about everything that he and his friends have done to them. In a bid to save his own skin, Aaron reveals that this community is not the only one and that he can lead Izzy and the rest of the ladies to others like them.
Some of the other husbands don’t fare too well during their confrontations, especially when Becky decides to roast Ryan alive. The surviving husbands are left to confront their angry wives with the answers they’ve been seeking. After banishing them to their underground base, they need to enlist a reluctant Mabel to put an end to the town once and for all.
The ladies have come into their own and are using their power to both punisher their abusers and empower themselves. Ben Blacker has been building this entertaining and fun story into something truly special and that is evident in the pages of this issue. There are so many gratifying moments throughout this issue, but there is enough mystery left to keep the reader guessing on just how big and interesting this world is going to get.
Mirka Andolfo’s beautiful art punctuates the action and sly, subversive fun of this issue and its characters. Things are getting good in this series and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.
