While the suspects work through their issues with each other and the crimes they’re accused of, a new mystery emerges tied directly to one of the victims of the Sanctuary massacre.
It looks like Wally West has a power that hasn’t previously been explored and it looks like it has a significant connection to the events at Sanctuary and a clue to the investigation surrounding the murders.
Instead of trying to clear themselves, Harley and Booster continue to slug it out with Batgirl and Blue Beetle looking on. At the same time, the two detectives looking into the case also find themselves dealing with the escaped suspects as well as the new evidence discovered. As Batman and Flash search for the suspects, Harley and Booster decide to team up to prove their innocence.
More mystery surrounds Wally as his new power does some interesting and unexpected things. Unexpected things that also include his eventual death.
This issue of Heroes in Crisis is incredibly weird. From start to finish, Tom King keeps the reader on his/her toes and guessing where this story is going next and confounding us when we get there. There are moments that are a little slow and the Harley/Booster exchanges seemed to go on a little too long, but the overall story continues to be new and interesting. There are so many compelling things about this issue that will get the reader’s attention and engage. I can’t wait to see where this story goes in the next issue because it seems like an even wilder ride is coming.
The art is also amazing from start to finish and the differing art styles blend together seamlessly.
