The Rundown: Sinister’s sins are brought to life as Tarn seeks revenge.
Tarn sits on the council on Mars and stakes his claim of vengeance on the mutants that wronged him during the tournament. As Storm and the other members of the council try to keep his ambitions in check, a message from his followers alerts him of where they are and who they are with. In Sinister’s base, the Hellions find themselves squaring off against Tarn’s people who want revenge for their theft of genetic material.
Not knowing what happened, the Hellions attack and everyone notices that some of them have evolved in their ability to fight. When Tarn appears, he shows the Hellions the truth , how they were manipulated by Sinister and what he did to them afterwards. With things getting more tense between the two groups, Sinister makes a move to escape, leaving his team behind.
The Story: Wells does a great job of ramping up the tension and action throughout the story. I like seeing Sinister on the defensive and there is some great humor in the story from the clone. There is a loss of agency for Psylocke in this story that seemed out of character, but the rest of the plot is well done. Tarn is an intriguing character and threat that I want to see more of.
The Art: Roge Antonio delivers some impressive visuals throughout the issue. There are some great action moments and the overall look and feel of the art is engaging.
