The Rundown: Hellboy travels to Iceland to deal with a local legend.
Hellboy finds himself traveling to Iceland in the early 90’s during the holiday season. After meeting with a professor of anthropology, he is told of the Yule Cat. A local legend about a giant cat that stalks the area during the holidays peaks his interest and it isn’t long before the creature makes it presence known.
After battling the creature in the streets of the town, Hellboy will be transported to another place where he will face the creature behind the cat and its hordes.
The Story: Smith crafts a fun, entertaining and thrilling story in this issue. It is classic Hellboy in tone and lore with great action and thrills. I love visiting the world of these characters and this story has some great callbacks to other adventures and makes me want to see more Hellboy stories in the future.
The Art: Smith’s art is as engaging and thrilling as the story. There are some great visual moments with the action and I found myself immersed in the world of the story through the art.
