The Rundown: Hellboy and the Professor listen to another tale of supernatural horror.
Professor Bruttenholm attempts to regale his relative with a story of their adventures when he is interrupted once again by another story of Simon and his colleagues in the Silver Lantern Club. Back at the Monk’s Head, the group meets to discuss the murder of a series of horses and the sightings of a large creature lurking at night. Simon believes that the attacks are linked to another case he’s working on and another murder.
The group begins their investigation at the scene of a treasure hunter who became a victim. As they squabble over both suspects and methodology, one of them finds a clue. When they investigate a nearby building, they discover not only how their cases are linked, but also the creature that links them together.
The Story: Mignola and Roberson craft another entertaining and fun issue. The story has a great pace and an adventurous spirit that is infectious and engaging. The dialogue is fun throughout and the writers do a great job of bringing the reader into the interpersonal relationships between the characters. Their banter and conversations make you feel like you’ve been following their adventures for years.
The Art: Stenbeck and Mitten deliver some beautiful art throughout the issue. The characters look great and the action is thrilling with some gorgeous horror moments.
