The Rundown: Hellboy and Abe go on the hunt for a killer frost giant as Hellboy’s connection to the hammer grows.
Hellboy and Abe manage to track Aickman to the woods where he plans on resurrecting the frost giant king Thrym. Unfortunately, they are too late to stop the ceremony and find themselves with bigger problems. As Aickman’s daughter Pernilla tries to stop her father, Hellboy and Abe fight off a horde of creatures alone until they get some unexpected, but welcome backup. Pernilla confronts her father, but his connection to the frost giant comes at a terribleprice as the creature escapes into the woods.
At the same time, the autopsy on Thor takes a dark turn when a dangerous warrior arrives to claim the body. In the aftermath, Hellboy, Abe and Pernilla head north to track down the missing frost giant. A hunt that will reveal more living myths killing across the country. As they move further north, Abe notices more changes in Hellboy. Changes that will bring them to the site of more slaughter and the possible end of their hunt.
The Story: Mignola and Golden deliver some great action and dialogue throughout this issue. The story continues to be engaging and grabs the reader’s attention both with its themes and pacing. The story has some great character moments throughout and I can’t wait to see how it is resolved.
The Art: Smith delivers some great art in the issue. There are some brilliantly detailed action scenes and the characters look fantastic.
