The Rundown: Hellboy and Anastasia get closer as a growing threat makes her presence known.
Hellboy and Anastasia make their way to India to begin a new investigation, but they take some time away to explore their romantic relationship. That night, their contact arrives to take them to a dig site where they have discovered a hidden temple.
Within the temple, Anastasia discovers something that will upend everything currently known about magic and make her career. Unfortunately, the woman who has been in the background of their adventure decides to take an active role in both stealing Anastasia’s find, but also stopping them from going any further permanently.
The Story: Mignola and Golden craft a fun, thrilling and often sweet adventure for Hellboy in this issue. Beyond the romantic moments, there are some great horror moments in the story that tease a bigger adventure for the couple. I like the dynamic between Hellboy and Anastasia. It works well throughout the adventure. The action is great and the bigger story beginning to unfold makes me interested in seeing more from this series.
The Art: Smith delivers some beautifully detailed and visually thrilling art on every page of the issue. Not only are the moments between Hellboy and Anastasia engaging, but the darker moments with Delilah are visually compelling as well.
