The Rundown: Hellboy has some unfinished business to take care of when an old friend goes missing.
Hellboy returns to Budapest at the request of a friend of a friend. After learning more about him, he conveys that it is his fault that his friend Lajos went missing on one of his cases involving a miser, a cursed coin and an old village. After promising to bring him back, Hellboy goes to see someone who might know how.
After being transported through time, Hellboy discovers that his friend is set to be the sacrifice to end a flood destroying the city. A flood that has its own monsters wanting a sacrifice of their own. Hellboy will have to face off against a raging sea creature and an angry mob if he has any chance of saving his friend and himself.
The Story: A thoroughly enjoyable and fun adventure that encompasses everything that is great about Hellboy and his world of mysticism and magic. The story is fast, fun and filled with great tension. Mignola does a great job of connecting the characters and giving Hellboy some intriguing and engaging stakes to overcome.
The Art: Laszlo delivers some impressive art. I really enjoyed the style and how it deftly keeps both the lighter tones of the story and the tense moments visually engaging to the reader.
