The Rundown: Constantine will enlist some unusual help to chase a ghost from his past.
After his run in with the Devil, John wakes up to discover that the demon needs his help with a problem that Constantine caused in his youth. After releasing a demon that was being punished by the Devil for his insolence, the creature grew and returned to enact a very specific vengeance. One that will require Constantine and the Devil to team up to take the demon down.
Unfortunately, the demon has been operating on Earth for years and has some powerful allies. After finding the partner of John’s friend murdered, John enlists his ghost to help and John begins the next part of his dangerous plan to stop it. To make matters worse, the demon seems to be ahead of him and his next target is one that John does not expect.
The Story: Tom Taylor continues to craft a story that is filled with dark humor and interesting characters. Constantine’s interactions with the Devil are fun and surprisingly charming. The story takes some intriguing turns and the humor makes it more engaging. Things become more interesting when the story goes to an unexpected cliffhanger that instantly makes me interested in seeing what happens next.
The Art: Darick Robertson’s art is beautifully detailed and matches the darkly comedic tone of the story perfectly. There are some great, gory moments throughout that are tempered with great character details and mood.
