The Rundown: Helen and her grandfather take a personal journey into the deep and learn more about each other.
Helen finds herself back in the other world with her grandfather and on the high seas with a charming ship captain who takes them to a dangerous part of the ocean before leaving them on their own. As they make their way across dangerous waters, they continue to talk until they find a mysterious cave containing someone close to both of them.
After a tense confrontation with a powerful entity, Helen and her grandfather find themselves diving beneath the depths and facing off against the denizens of the sea before finding themselves at the doors of a sacred place. A place that will bring a new understanding between them.
The Story: King crafts a beautifully engaging and engrossing story in this issue. There are so many great character moments and the story gives everyone such great character growth both individually and together. I love the moments between Helen and her grandfather and the evolution of their relationship. I also loved the transition through time this story creates and how it emphasizes the importance of story. A brilliant issue from start to finish.
The Art: Evely’s art is brilliantly detailed, beautifully composed and a feast for the eyes. I am consistently blown away with the talent, energy and beauty on every page.
