The Rundown: Helen’s spiral into depression will force her governess to make a dangerous journey.
Helen continues to become more depressed at being shut out by her grandfather and he continues his adventures without her. Her descent includes returning to drinking and her governess wants answers.
As things continue to become more intense between the parties, the governess decides to follow Barnabas into the other world and confront him as he battles a dangerous creature. A confrontation that will show the governess can be just as fearless and the man and his granddaughter.
The Story: King continues to create a thrilling, emotional and moving story in this issue. The action is beautifully done and the emotional tension between Helen and her grandfather is wonderful to see. I not only love seeing Helen have more agency regardless of the consequences, but I love seeing the governess have that agency as well by taking steps to meet Barnabas on his terms and without fear. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next.
The Art: Evely delivers breathtaking art throughout the issue. The visuals are stunning in their detail and composition.
