The Rundown: Helen returns home to tell her governess of her first adventure with her grandfather.
Helen returns home to her governess Lilith with tales of her first adventure with her grandfather. An adventure that will bring her through the woods to a small cottage manned by a dark creature. After paying a strange toll, the pair find themselves in a mysterious world filled with fantastic creatures, adventure and mysterious gods that Helen discovers have a connection to her life and that of her father.
As Helen’s adventures continue, she makes her first kill and she and her mysterious grandfather get closer as she explores the mysteries of her past.
The Story: King continues to craft a blisteringly beautiful story in this issue. It weaves wonderful moments of mystery and discovery while creating great moments between the characters. I love the transitioning timelines and how each of them has its own mystery to be uncovered. There is a wonderful and engrossing fantasy world being developed in this series and each issue makes me excited to see where the story goes next.
The Art: Evely crafts brilliantly surreal and enchanting art throughout the issue. The visuals transport you to a new and vibrant world and every page and panel drew me deeper into the story.
