HBO has committed to more adventures in Westeros with the announcement of a prequel series focusing on the members of House Targaryen. Today, it was announced that the head of the house has been chosen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Paddy Considine has been cast as one of the leads of the upcoming series ‘House of the Dragon’ based on the world created by George RR Martin.
House of the Dragon is set 300 years before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire and will feature Considine as King Viserys Targaryen. Chosen by the Great Council at Harrenhal to succeed the old king, Viserys is described as a kind and decent man who will try to rule Westeros as such. Unfortunately, he will learn that being a good man doesn’t make you a good king.
Paddy Considine is known for his roles in films like In America, Hot Fuzz, The World’s End and The Death of Stalin. He is also known for his work in series like Peaky Blinders, The Outsider and The Third Day. Considine next appearance will be in the indie film Wolf.
