The Rundown: Kendra adjusts to a new life in Metropolis while a new threat grows with a connection to her.

Kendra Saunders has decided to move to Metropolis in order to start a new life. Unfortunately, she is holding back a darkness within herself and has thrown herself into her work as a hero. Even her teammates know something is wrong, but Kendra is holding back. In the midst of battle, she finds herself being saved by a new hero named Galaxy who might be the one person on the planet that can help her.

At the same time, a woman named Maureen finds herself forced to fulfill a promise she made to a creature named Vulpecula when she was a child. A promise that will bring her into a dangerous machine that seems to need Nth metal in order to create a portal for the creature’s needs.

The Story: Axelrod crafts an engaging and entertaining story in this first issue. There are some great interpersonal and internal conflicts at play in the story and I am interested in seeing where Kendra’s personal story goes. The villain is interesting and her connection to Nth Metal has me curious. Also, she seems to be playing an interesting game as well and I want to see what it is. The side characters are intriguing, but I haven’t gotten a sense of them yet to form an opinion.

The Art: Amancay Nahuelpandelivers some great art throughout the issue. I love the visual differences between the dark back story and the brighter action based story.
