Harley Quinn has been taken to the Batcave as Batman continues his investigation into the death of a doctor supposedly at Quinn’s hands.
When she’s not riding the giant dinosaur, she breaking the fourth wall to tell the reader what’s happening. In a desperate bid to prove to the Dark Knight that she has changed, she cuffs herself to Batman to prove to him that she’s not going to try and escape.
As the clues begin to mount and Batman runs into dead ends, Harley shows Batman how she’s changed her life. Even in the midst of all the evidence mounting against her, she takes precious time to intervene in a situation to help someone else.
Batman and Quinn try one last scheme to flush out the real killer and the plan uncovers someone with a twisted connection to Harley. Someone who is dying to be with her.
Honestly, if Sam Humphries ended this issue on any kind of serious note, I wouldn’t have believed it. Humphries keeps things light and comedic, even in the face of a murder investigation and Batman. It works for the most part. There are some elements that seemed repetitive, but there was enough fun in certain moments to make this an issue worth reading. Harley needling Batman throughout the issue is entertaining and written cleverly. The revelation of who is behind everything was well plotted and paced and I appreciate Humphries for wrapping up that storyline in interesting fashion.
John Timms’ art is remarkable. There are some beautifully, detailed panels in this issue as well as dynamic splash pages and action.
