The Rundown: Harley Quinn hosts her first meeting for recovering Clowns while Hugo Strange continues his deadly experiments.
Hugo Strange converses with an ally while testing his latest formula. Elsewhere, Harley decides to host a group therapy session. When the event is interrupted by a dangerous group of enemies, Harley goes on the attack. Later, she has an encounter with someone unexpected.
The Story: I really enjoy watching Harley’s evolution into a hero. And I like how Phillips is able to craft a narrative for Harley that merges her wild, carefree nature with her educational capabilities. Its fun to read and very engaging. But, it also shows the layered personality of what could easily become a one dimensional character. Also, the episodes narration is beautifully written and thoughtful. I look forward to the next chapter.
The Art: Rossmo uses a creative and fun drawing style highlighted by the bold and brilliant color work of Plascencia. The tone changes based on the characters. And there is a marked difference between the dizzying world of Harley, and the muted affairs involving Strange. I really enjoyed the art in this issue.
