The Rundown: Keepsake forces Harley to make a difficult decision.
The story opens with Harley and Kevin in a compromising situation. Then, the narrative switches to earlier that day when Harley held a group therapy session for former clowns. Afterwards, she finds a mysterious note and rushes off to find Keepsake. Soon Harley engages in a deadly conflict. Finally, she is given a heartbreaking choice and must decide how to proceed.
The Story: Phillips creates an exciting entry point into this series. Fresh off the Fear State plot line, Harley finds herself once again helping the former clowns. I really enjoy seeing Harley use both her education and empathy. She’s a woman who has made a conscious decision to change her life and is doing everything in her power to make that happen, including looking out for her best friend. It’s also fun to see Harley fight and this issue has plenty of bat wielding adventure. I’m looking forward to seeing how the cliff hanger will pan out and if the former clowns will play a bigger role in this story.
The Art: The illustration in this edition return to the dizzying and youthful format of previous issues. The action scenes are fun and interesting, while the attention to detail provides a transportive quality to the story.
