The Rundown: With their forces split, one Guardian will make the ultimate sacrifice to save both his friends and the galaxy.
Marvel Boy has found the power source keeping the floating city in the skies, Hercules. At the same time, the rest of the time have their hands full trying to stop the new Olympian gods as Peter is herded into a meeting with Hephaestus after the automatons stole the black hole bomb and disappeared.
After freeing Hercules, the demigod and the team have a run in with the goddess of wisdom who gives him a vision of the future. When Peter finds a way to stop the city and the new gods from destroying the universe, he convinces the team that he has a new plan to stop the attack. A plan that will call for one of the team to make the ultimate sacrifice.
The Story: With its mixture of fun and adventure, Al Ewing ends this issue with a bang, literally. The story is fast paced and exciting. The dialogue is great and the end of the issue is filled with emotion. This is a fun issue that showcases what is awesome about these characters and their interactions with each other. This issue was fun from start to finish and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
The Art: Cabal brings some impressive and immersive visuals into this issue. The action is intense and beautifully rendered and the final panels are an emotional gut punch.
