The Rundown: John Stewart is trapped in another universe and finds himself in the middle of a war.
John Stewart wakes up in darkness trapped in the depths of a world surrounded by creatures he cannot understand. After finding a mysterious man who has his ring, John takes to the skies to return to Earth, but discovers not only that he doesn’t know where he is, but also that the inhabitants are preparing for war.
On Earth, Steel pays a visit to the construct version of John’s house to confront the construct version of John’s sister about his mother. Unfortunately, the Revenant Queen discovers the location and promises to take everything away from John Stewart.
The Story: Johnson continues to create an engaging and interesting story for John Stewart and this issue ramps up the suspense as John deals with his new circumstances. The story has some great world building throughout and the tone between John’s story and the Earth story are wonderfully complex. I love the tension with the Revenant Queen story and look forward to seeing what happens next.
The Art: Montos delivers some beautifully dramatic and brilliantly detailed art throughout the issue.
