The Rundown: John Stewart finds himself living within dark memories while a dangerous evil comes for someone he loves.

John Stewart has run into the anomaly in order to confront the Revenant Queen. Unfortunately, he finds himself in a strange world living in the memories of another person. Someone with a connection to the past. Someone who is gifted something that could connect to the Queen and her power.

At the same time, John’s mother is attacked in her home by the agent of the Queen. An attack that will bring the force of Steel to help defend the woman. At the galactic barrier, John’s ally faces the might of the United Planets and their quarantine zone.

The Story: Phillip Kennedy Johnson does a wonderful job of slowing building on the suspense of this story. There is an interesting and engaging narrative flow throughout the story with a minor hiccup when it gets to John’s part of the story, but it works itself out brilliantly to craft and expand on the world of the Revenant Queen and why the entity has connected itself to John Stewart. The other parts of the story are equally suspenseful and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

The Art: Montos crafts some beautifully detailed and engaging art throughout the issue. The visuals beautifully capture the dark and dangerous tone of the story.
